Love letters
I read these and I well up every time! Being trusted to hold space for women and their supports during something as enormous and sacred as bringing their baby into the world is the greatest honour of my life, and I count myself endlessly lucky to have been let into each of these stories.
“Held space for all of our feelings”
Romy was nothing but sweetness, love, joy, calm, strength and reliability. She asked thoughtful questions to help me work through past birth trauma, and held space for all our feelings. She would reach out and encourage me when I was feeling anxious and provided me with really great resources to work towards getting a VBAC. During labour, she offered encouragement at just the right moments, was a steady and reliable space keeper and helped us to feel safe and calm. Just her presence was helpful, let alone the wealth of knowledge and experience that she brought. I don’t have words to express how amazing it was to have her as a part of our birth team.

“I was able to walk out of birth ready for Mothering”
I knew that I wanted the support of a doula for my birthing experience, someone that would be there to advocate for my wants, needs and desires. I felt it was too much pressure to ask my partner to be the sole supporter of me during birth, I wanted someone there who got birth, who was there completely for me, and also to support and help my partner through this journey.
Hiring Romy was one of the best decisions that we made for the birth of our baby, and couldn’t recommend it more, or speak highly enough of her. She went above and beyond to support us in the lead up to birth, especially being on call in those final weeks was so important in protecting my energy and the birth space. Not to mention how she was there for us during the labour and the birth - something we will always remember.
Birth is such an unknown experience and it of course didn’t play out how we expected and took many twists and turns, from birth to then the postpartum experience, but we still are able to look back at the whole experience so positively and I believe a big part of that was hiring Romy. With her we were able to carefully prepare for birth and postpartum together, ensuring we knew what each of our needs were and how to communicate that. I was able to walk out of birth ready for mothering, feeling cared for and connected to our baby girl.

“Having Romy as a constant helper to ground Maddie and me was amazing”
When my fiancée, Maddie, suggested we have a Doula to support us during birth I had no idea what it meant. But it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made for our daughter’s birth. All I knew was that I wanted to support Maddie during childbirth, but I didn’t know how and that’s where Romy helped most. It was great meeting her beforehand so we could get to know each other.
On the day of the birth, Romy was there from the start. I wasn’t prepared for how many different healthcare professionals we would meet during the labor process (it was a lot) but having Romy as a constant helper to ground Maddie and me was amazing. Her main priority was to support Maddie, but she also made sure that I was in the best space to support her too. She helped us make decisions during the process by advocating for Maddie and her wishes, and even though things didn’t go as planned, she helped us feel comfortable with the decisions we needed to make at a time when all you want is the best for your baby and the mother.
Seeing Romy after the birth was a huge relief for me. She had made the space a great place for our family to have our first night which helped to ground us after the most intense emotional experience of my life. I would 100% recommend Romy as a doula and couldn’t be more thankful for her support during the birth of our first daughter.

“Romy empowered and supported my partner and I”
Choosing Romy as our Doula was the best decision I made!
Romy empowered and supported my partner and I through pregnancy, the birth space and postpartum. We were gently guided through birth and breastfeeding education and always provided with extra information and tailored support as needed. She was beyond supportive with my existing mental illnesses and other health conditions that came up during pregnancy.
I had a natural birth in a public hospital free from interventions and I can’t thank her enough for empowering me to stand up for what I wanted my birth to be.
We miss our Doula dates, we always felt genuinely heard and special. I’m so glad we met Romy and had her on or team, our side!

“She truly went above and beyond and was there for me when I needed her most”
Romy is the most caring, authentic, and knowledgeable doula I could have asked for.
She supported me every step of the way leading up to the birth, and on the day, she was absolutely key in helping me have a beautiful and empowered experience - it was the birth of my dreams!!
Nothing was ever too much for her - she truly went above and beyond and was there for me when I needed her most. I honestly don’t know how I would’ve done it without her.
I’d recommend Romy to absolutely anyone looking for a doula. She’s an incredible support and has become a true friend through the journey.

“Romy became a true pillar of strength for both of us”
We honestly don’t know where we would be without Romy.
Our hospital birth was traumatic, and I can say with complete confidence that our postpartum journey would have looked very different if it weren’t for her support. She met us exactly where we were, emotionally and practically, every single step of the way.
Going into this, my husband was unsure about having a doula (was unsure about their role but it was my only non -negotiable - sorry hubby) and thank god we did...he ended up getting the most value from it and always says "I don't know how we would have done it if it wasn't for Romy",. He was incredibly worried throughout the process, and Romy became a true pillar of strength for both of us.
Romy is deeply knowledgeable, endlessly caring, and has an incredible ability to understand what you need in the moment, often before I even realised it myself. Every visit felt thoughtful and grounding, from her calm reassurance to the little things that meant so much, like turning up with British treats for me and the most amazing gluten-free meals.
Romy is worth her weight in gold, and we will forever be grateful for the role she played in bringing us through such a vulnerable and important time in our lives.

“Arrived at the hospital ready to push!”
Words cannot express how grateful we are for the support, gentle guidance and general kindness & compassion that Romy provided us with during the labour & birth of our first born. Romy’s knowledge enabled me to have the birth I had envisioned with minimal interventions and adhering to our birth plan as close as possible. She supported both my husband and I as we laboured for as long as possible, in the comfort of our home & arrived at the hospital ready to push! Romy is a significant reason as to why my birth journey & postpartum has been so positive. If you’re looking for an incredible support & advocate to ensure your birth is nothing but wonderful, then Romy is your lady!

“The birth of my dreams”
I had to send you a text to let you know that your doula support through my pregnancy gave me the birth of my dreams! My entire pregnancy I was scared for the labour, and especially for tearing. But every time we would see each other I would feel more calm and confident.
After spontaneously starting labour at 39+2 weeks, I had my first contraction at 3.30am with calmness and excitement that my baby girl was ready to join us. I distracted myself with some TV, exercises and a bath. And my husband knew exactly what to do the whole time thanks to all your training (he was the best partner through all of it and we felt closer to each other than ever). Around 10am I felt that the waves were stronger and closer together and I knew it was time to head to the hospital.
On the way to the hospital we put on our favourite playlist, the tens machine on my lower back and I continue breathing through my waves. When we got to hospital I was 6-7cm dilated already. Around 12pm the urge to push started, the midwife kept telling me to not push just yet but I was only going to listen to my body (I didn’t want to know how dilated I was anymore, I just wanted to feel my body completely).
The waves kept getting stronger and stronger, I doubted myself a few times but both you and my husband were there to reassure me, to feed me, massage me, help me breathing, to remind me the strength I had within. At 2.30pm my daughter was born! My husband was able to get her, they immediately put her on my chest to have skin to skin, we had delayed cord clamping, we even had a partial lotus birth.
All of the things I dreamed of! Your support helped us determine what was important to us and build a mindset to make it happen. What can I say, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You are such a wonderful doula, with a passion that is gentle and true. I will always remember that day and how my journey was shaped by you.
